Seriously, these little machines are pretty cool. I bought mine on eBay for $20, but they can go up to $70 if you don't watch it. I also bought the Alice in Wonderland talking view-master reels to go with it. The screeching voice track makes an eerie addition to the story, especially when Alice falls down the rabbit hole.
The Alice reels are brilliant because the 3D scenes look as though they were created with dolls and clay, as opposed to the cheesy, over-hyped Disney version. When you think about it, Alice in Wonderland should be as frightening as possible and never made cutesy.
I also bought some talking reels of the Peter Pan story which uses the same type of dolls and clay. When I get enough bidding karma built up, I'm hoping to win the Frankenstein view-master reels to add to my collection.
